Wild elephant found dead in Ngapudaw Township

A wild elephant was found dead on 10 September, 6 miles from the northern part of Htantabin village, Tinchaung village-tract, Ngapudaw Township, Ayeyarwady Region.

A combined team of Ngapudaw and Nga Yoke Kaung township police forces, the Emergency Elephant Rescue Unit (EERU), and village administrators inspected the elephant carcass after they received a report from residents.
The female elephant measured 7 feet in height and 6.7 feet in length. Its trunk measured 3.7 feet and tail 2 feet.
According to the EERU, the elephant is estimated to have died two days ago. Furthermore, the EERU has asked U Lin Lin Tun for a detailed inspection. The regional police is currently conducting a search operation, and is inspecting the routes around the village. —Maung Maung Myint (IPRD)
