Pyinmana Sangha Hospital donated more than K14.6 million to 38 patients for having kidney dialysis in July, with the help of public contribution, said medical superintendent Dr Than Min Htut.
The hospital’s renal ward could provide dialysis for 90 patients 561 times in the last month and sought funding to give free dialysis for 38 poor patients out of 90, he wrote on his Facebook page.
The public donation for free dialysis is worth up to K14.6 million. For the maintenance of dialysis machines, Daw San San Swe from Kabarkyaw sack bag manufacturing in Yangon donated K1.2 million as a New Year’s donation.
Depending on the levels of the disease, times of kidney dialysis are different; some need eight times a month, and some need six times a month, he wrote on his Facebook page.
Each dialysis costs K55,000, so six times the cost is K330,000, and eight times the price is K440,000.
In June, the hospital donated more than K15 million to 37 kidney patients for having dialysis.
Over the last three months, from April to June, Pyinmana Sangha Hospital provided free medical treatments for a total of 2,084 monks and nuns who had financial difficulties – 584 in April, 713 in May and 787 in June. — MT/ZS/ED
