NATIONAL NEWS

The Bhamo District Court sentenced a woman to ten years with labour in jail on 23 November for trafficking two women to a Chinese man after a case was filed against her under Section 24 of the Prevention of Human Trafficking Law at the Lwejel area police station.
Ma Mi Maw, 30, daughter of U Maung Htwe, who lived in Nanmon village, Mohnyin Township, Kachin State, persuaded two women, 21 and 22, from Kutkai Township, Shan State, and Thanlyin Township, Yangon Region, that marrying a Chinese man would make a lot of money, and sold them to a Chinese man in China.
It is reported that 6,630 Chinese yuan, which was the evidence from the case, was confiscated as public funds. — MNA
