Myanmar women’s football team have already advanced to the semifinal of the XXXII SEA Games Women’s Football Event after passing Group A with second place, with a big win over Malaysia by 5-1 yesterday, played at the Phnom Penh’s Stadium, Cambodia.
Myanmar was placed in the tough Group A with powerhouses Viet Nam, the Philippines, and Malaysia.
Myanmar, Viet Nam and the Philippines shared the same six points after the group matches but with different scores.
Viet Nam won first place in the group due to the better number of goals scored, while Myanmar came in second.
“Thank you to all the fans who supported the Myanmar women’s team. It was a tough group match, but I am proud that the players overcame the best and made it to the semi-finals. We will prepare the best for the next step. Thank you to all the supporters behind this win,” Myanmar head coach Uki Tetsuro stated.
In the semifinals, Viet Nam will face Group B’s second-placed team while team Myanmar will meet Group B’s first-placed team.
The semi-final matches will be played simultaneously at the National Stadium and the Army Stadium at 7 pm on 12 May. — KZL
