Wooden utensils trending in online marketplace

The trending wooden household items and kitchen utensils are Buddhist altars, plates, bowls, cups, chopping boards, boxes, spoons, spatula and flowering pots among others.

The wooden household items and kitchen utensils are sold well online, said Daw Pyae Pyae, a traditional household products maker from Thabeikkyin Township.
Those wooden items are sold at a fair price in the domestic market. The prices of wooden household items move in the range of K1,000 and K1 million. At present, they are trending on eCommerce sites.
“The wide range of locally made items are offered in the market. The customized order can also be done. The market is relying on domestic consumers. Additionally, the wooden items are shipped to China and Thailand. Wooden chopping boards are highly demanded both in domestic and foreign markets. Furthermore, wooden offering bowls curved with lids are being sold well in the domestic market. Consumer behaviour is shifting and digital platform has become popular in the present. The appreciation for locally made items is growing. Some kitchen utensils made of timber are cheaper than those products of plastic and ceramic. Most importantly, they are of high quality,” she elaborated.
