The Ministry of Industry organized a workshop on the gasification of paddy husks in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Speaking at the event, Union Minister Dr Charlie Than said that biogas production helps reduce the impacts of climate change and is a solution to the need for fuel.
The country adopted the gasifier technology in 1995-96 mainly in inaccessible areas to the national grid and certain areas where do not get adequate power. Moreover, the system is most common in village electrification projects and Ayeyawady Region.
Then, Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw explained the cooperation work among the MSMEs and experts, the paper reading session of Gasifier as per the international criteria and further cooperation to establish a systematic gasifier. Additionally, the Bago Region chief minister, Ayeyawady Region chief minister and other attendees coordinated the discussion.
Under the Directorate of Industrial Supervision and Inspection of the Ministry of Industry, a total of 412 gasifiers made private industrial registrations — 78 in Sagaing Region, 16 in Bago Region, two in Mandalay Region, 13 in Yangon, and 303 in Ayeyawady Region. Of 412 gasifiers, 319 are used in rice mill businesses and 21 in other industries.
The workshop was held aiming at promoting activities at relevant departments, complying with the requirements of MSMEs, fulfilling the electricity needs with locally-produced gasifiers using waste, generating power, avoiding large piles of waste rice husk and ensuring the benefits of recycling waste materials. — MNA/KTZH
