Yangon major buyer of Kyaukpadaung tamarind

Popa tamarind, produced in Kyaukpadaung Township, Mandalay Region, has earned a reputation among consumers, especially since it is one of the marketable items in Yangon Region, according to local traders.
“We transport it to Yangon’s Bayintnaung Commodity Wholesale Centre, and from there, it is distributed to other areas. The tamarind season is from January to April. Kyaukpadaung is the biggest tamarind producer. Kyaukpadaung-produced tamarinds are supplied to Yangon and Mandalay, and the majority of orders go to Yangon,” said a spokesperson from Thukha Aung wholesale trading centre in Kyaukpadaung Township.
From the start of the season throughout the year, Popa tamarind is transported from Kyaukpadaung to Yangon’s Bayintnaung and from there, it is distributed to the whole lower Myanmar,
