Yangon Mayor inspects city development construction works

Yangon Mayor U Bo Htay encourages two injured workers due to the explosion of a hand-made mine during their duty yesterday.

Chairman of the Yangon City Development Committee Mayor U Bo Htay, and officials viewed the construction of the asphalt concrete repaving works at the traffic light junction of Pyay Road and Khayaypin Road yesterday morning. During the inspection, the mayor instructed the relevant officials that the shoulders of the road to smooth and endure, complete the construction on time, and fulfil the needs.
After that, the mayor and his team arrived at the Defence Services Specialty Orthopaedic Hospital (500-bed) and encouraged the two sanitation workers who were injured due to the explosion of a hand-made mine during their duty while providing food and cash.
Additionally, the Yangon Mayor inspected the construction of the underground pedestrian tunnel (underpass) between the West entrance to Shwedagon Pagoda and the People’s Square and Park and the construction of U Wisara Road upgrading works yesterday’s night.
The underpass that will connect the west entrance to Shwedagon Pagoda and the People’s Square and Park will be 23 feet wide and 461 feet and nine inches long and includes four exits, four escalators, and two lifts for people with disabilities that can accommodate just ten passengers each at a time. It is said that the project period will take about 14 months. — MNA/MKKS
