Students from the Yangon School for the Blind (Kawel Chan) are baking bread and the number of orders received has increased, according to the school.
“We have just started advertising. People come and buy. Some are placing orders for April. Not very many. The students bake while they learn. They make various kinds of bread- soy milk bread, soy bread and vanilla bread. The teacher teaches them. They are not making cakes yet,” an official said.
Breadmakers are male students from the fourth to ninth standard, with no female participation, and there are also some online buyers.
“Since they are interested in baking, they bake while they are at school. Some contact us online. But, we have to turn some down because we cannot deliver for online orders,” she said.
The Yangon School for the Blind (Kawel Chan) has 121 people, including teachers, staff and 105 students.
