Yangon United wins with half a dozen goals on debut

Yangon United team played against GFA in their debut match on 23 February and won 5-0. Win Naing Tun scored three goals and Kaung Htet Soe and Okkar Naing scored one goal each for team Yangon. Yangon United team came out with a 4-3-3 set formation, and Win Naing Tun scored the leading goal in the 20th minute of the game. Win Naing Tun again scored the second and third goals in the 29th and 44th minutes of the match, and team Yangon was leading 3-0 at the end of the first half. Four minutes after the restart of the second half, Kaung Htet Soe scored the fourth goal through an assist from Yan Naing Oo, and the fifth goal was scored by substitute player Okkar Naing in the 85th minute of the game with a left-footed shot over David Htan’s free kick. In the later minutes, Yangon United had a few more opportunities, including a penalty kick, but they could not use it. Yangon United celebrated their big 5-0 win at the final whistle. In addition, Yangon United striker Win Naing Tun became the first player to score a hat trick in the 2023 Myanmar National League.
After the game, Yangon United’s head coach U Kyaw Dun said, “Today’s step is the first step. We can see that they are playing hard because they know that today is the first step. “We won because we tried to reach the direction we wanted to go, just like we tried on the training pitch,” he said. — KZL
