Selected arts and science subjects, economics, law, social, sports and medical subjects will be given to students at NSA, said Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in inspecting the construction of Naypyitaw State Academy (NSA) in Zabuthiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area yesterday afternoon.
At the meeting hall, Union Minister for Construction U Shwe Lay and Union Minister for Education Dr Nyunt Pe reported to the Senior General on academic and management measures of Naypyitaw State Academy, conferring of degrees, and establishment of relevant departments.
In his speech, the Senior General said the Naypyitaw State Academy project is being implemented on the site allotted for the former Sports University project which failed to be implemented. More buildings are added to the NSA project to have university characteristics.
The Senior General stressed the need to title the departments of the university in line with technical terms and work procedures used by other countries, adding that offspring of service personnel from Nay Pyi Taw and eligible youths from eight townships in Nay Pyi Taw must be selected as students for the NSA. Priority must be given to outstanding students in relevant subjects. As of this academic year, arrangements must be made for the NSA to admit the third and fourth day students for teaching. And then, students will be admitted for the first and second years’ courses. Students will have a ferry service to attend the university. In the future, they will be admitted to hostels.
Selected arts and science subjects, economics, law, social, sports and medical subjects must be given to students at NSA. Yangon University, Mandalay University and NSA must be top of the nation as well as involved on the list of the world’s best universities.
The NSA must be facilitated with a laboratory and an e-library without fail for enabling students to study higher education. Accommodation must be considered for faculty members, said the Senior General.
The Senior General inspected lecture halls and display of teaching aid at the main building of the NSA and stressed the need to systematically calculate the cost for construction.
In accord with the guidance of the Senior General, the NSA is being built in Zabuthiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area as of April this year, and it is expected to complete construction in April 2024. The NSA is facilitated by lecture buildings, an assembly hall, academic and administrative offices, lecture halls, laboratories and the library. Offspring of government service personnel from Nay Pyi Taw and those of local people will have the chance to learn higher education at the NSA. — MNA
