YANGON Zoological Garden will hold a birthday celebration for Mo Mo the elephant on 21-22 October to celebrate the animal’s 64th, according to yesterday’s edition of Myawady Daily.
The celebration will include music performances, animal dance, games and magic shows plus comedy show, said U Myo Kyaw Thu.
Mo Mo was donated to the zoo by U Khoon Sandah from Loikaw of Kayah State in 1961. She has been entertaining her visitors with dances for many years at the zoo. Her special trick is playing the harmonica and shaking her hips to the beat.
U Myo Kyaw Thu said that the zoo hosted nine elephants in the past, including three males and six females. Under an agreement with the Forest Department, three male elephants will be transferred to Yangon’s Hlawga Wildlife Park.—GNLM
