Mandalay Mayor Dr Ye Lwin and MCDC officials are greeting the street vendors.

Street vendors from the old Yaw Min Gyi duty-free market were relocated by the Mandalay City Development Committee (MCDC) to a new site on 22nd street between Thingazar Creek and Yadana Housing, Aungmyaythazan Township.
The new market, built by the Mandalay City Development Committee, measures 216 feet x 102 feet and holds 327 shops, 112 being roofed shops and 215 being open shops.
The old Yaw Min Gyi duty-free market was near Yaw Min Gyi U Phoe Hlaing Beikman and monument.
This area had traffic congestion problems because vehicles from Thiri Mandala Parking lot were constantly coming into and going out of the duty-free market.
The new Yaw Min Gyi market was formally opened on 21 December with Mandalay Mayor Dr Ye Lwin in attendance. MCDC was transparent in relocation of the street vendors from the old Yaw Min Gyi duty-free market.
