YBS buses submit to increase bus fare K400

With the rising of maintaining costs and fuel oil price, the bus line’s owners have submitted a proposal to YRTC to increase the YBS bus fare up to K400 as YBS vehicles operating in the city need to remain operational, according to the YBS bus line companies.
In recent days, the company owned buses line of Yangon-Bago buses, have increased its fair price based on the increase of fuel oil in the market. There are also many mini-buses in Yangon and they are also requested YRTC to submit their bus fare after increasing fuel oil price and spare parts of their buses.
“YRTC has also introduced a Yangon Payment Service (YPS) card payment system to reduce the collecting of extra bus fare. In the card system, it is reported to collect the minimum K400 for the bus fare from the card,” said a bus line owner.
YPS machines were installed on YBS buses as of 21 July 2020. Asia Starmar Transport Intelligent Co., Ltd is making effort to distribute more YPS cards and to install the new YPS machines on the buses.
Currently, YPS machines have been installed on a total of 1902 buses including 608 buses of Yangon Bus Public Co. Ltd (YBPC), 304 buses of Bandoola Transportation company, 700 buses of Yangon Urban Public Transport Public Co. Ltd (YUPT), 165 buses of Ludu Partner Company and 27 buses of Golden Yangon City Transportation Public Co. Ltd (GYCT) companies. — Aye Maung/GNLM
