The University of Nursing, Yangon, commemorated World Patient Safety Day yesterday.
A video clip urging prioritizing patient safety was shown first, followed by opening remarks from the chief regional health officer and explanations on World Patient Safety Day from experts.
Dr Khine Zar Win from the Eastern District of Yangon Region explained that patient safety involves mitigating negative side effects in the hospital. It is a preventable case and is given top priority.
The World Health Organization estimates that one out of four patients in developing countries faces difficulties when receiving medical treatment. This means that about 134 million people are experiencing this issue and 2.6 million die while receiving medical attention every year. —MNA
