According to the coordination meeting of the working committee to formulate standards and procedures to prevent the misuse of agricultural lands in other ways in the future, the Yangon Region has the highest number of unauthorized encroachments on agricultural lands compared to other states and regions.
Chairman of the Working Committee Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, said at the coordination meeting held on 20 September that there is a need to develop a standard operating procedure (SOP) on how to deal with the misuse of agricultural land in other ways and how to prevent it from happening again in the future.
Therefore, the methods to be taken to prevent it from happening again in the future under laws and rules before and after 2012, as mentioned in the 23 tasks, will have to be drafted, and the SOP must be submitted along with the recommendations based on the principles and a review of all the verification results for the current ground encroachment process, he continued.
It is reported that the draft SOP developed by the Yangon Region Working Committee will be approved at the regional level through the current meeting and delivered to the Union Working Committee and the Steering Committee by the specified date.
The secretary of the regional government and the associate secretary discussed the information to be developed and included in the methods to solve misuse of agricultural land and prevent future occurrences. — TWA/CT
