Yangon Water Bus (YWB) started running between Lanthit and Saparchaung-1 at 6 am yesterday to ensure smooth public transport without traffic congestion in Yangon Region. The passengers wearing masks can board the vessels and they need to have their temperature checked at the entrance to the pontoon. YWB suspended for eight months during the coronavirus pandemic allowed the passengers to ride free of charge yesterday in commemoration of the first day of resuming its YWB operation. YWB also gave the gifts to the passengers on the first day of resumption. The vessels can accommodate 80 passengers.
The reopened Yangon water buses have installed payment machines. Passengers can pay the fares through KBZPay and CB wave money account. The YWB fare is K300 per person. The vessels from Saparchaung will run from 6 am to 9:30 am and from 6:15 pm to 9:15 pm daily. It will leave Saparchaung every half hour. Also, the vessels from Lanthit will run from 6:15 am to 9:15 am and from 3 pm to 7 pm. It will depart Lanthit every half hour. —Myint Maung Soe (Translated by Hay Mar)
