Six million COVID-19 vaccines to be systematically jabbed in July and August: MOHS

The Ministry of Health and Sports held the coordination meeting on prevention and control activities of COVID-19 yesterday morning in Nay Pyi Taw and attended by Union Minister Dr Thet Khaing Win.
The meeting discussed matters in connexion with the systematic administering of six million COVID-19 vaccines — four million purchased and 2 million donated from the People’s Republic of China — which will arrive in the last week of July and the first week of August according to the target groups and priorities, improving immunization information and making immunization cards nationwide, human resources invoiced in immunization, and arrangements for cold storage and distribution of vaccines that will arrive before the end of this year.
The Union Minister discussed the full function of the oxygen plants in hospitals to prevent oxygen deficiency and plans to purchase and install them, portable oxygen concentrators and oxygen cylinders. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has eased restrictions on the import of oxygen generators. Liquid oxygen will arrive in Myanmar through the Myawady route. Plans are underway to import them through Muse, Shan State to fulfil the need for oxygen in public hospitals and private hospitals across the country.
He also expressed thanks to respective ministries and private entrepreneurs since they strive to import the oxygen generators.
The meeting also discussed matters pertaining to the plans to expand quarantine centres for COVID-19 positive patients and beds in regions and states, prioritizing public hospitals to receive and treat emergency patients and issues for increased acceptance of the positive patients. —MNA
