MoEA Union Minister attends Ethnic Policy and Culture Exchange Workshop in Thailand

The opening ceremony of the on ethnic policy and culture exchange workshop under the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (2020) was organized in Bangkok, Thailand yesterday.
Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Saw Tun Aung Myint, Kayin State Ethnic Affairs Minister U San Ko, Taninthayi Region Ethnic Affairs Minister U Saw Martin Luther, and the ministry’s delegates attended the event together with the relevant officials.
During the workshop, Social Development and Human Security Ministry of Thailand head Mr Anan Dontree delivered the greeting speech and Deputy Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs Ms Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit remarked.
Then, Union Minister U Saw Tun Aung Myint talked about the programmes under the MLC (2020) aiming to exchange ethnic culture and policies of the two countries and urged them to exchange views on cooperation for the development of the socioeconomic status of people in the future.
After the discussion with the deputy director-general of the Department of Ethnic Rights Protection of Myanmar, delegates and guests took commemorative photos.
During the workshop, officials of relevant departments of the two countries discussed the activities of the ministry, subjects under the topic of the Concept of Highland People Development, ethnic affairs policy and rights, operations of the Ministry of Home Affairs of Thailand, ethnic culture festivals of Myanmar, promoting access to justice towards ethnic groups in Thailand, cultures of ethnic people in Myanmar, protection and promotion of occupations of ethnic people. Then, the Union Minister expressed thanks for their participation in the meeting.—MNA/KTZH
