The 154th alms donation ceremony and rice offering ceremony will be held at the Shwe Myintzu Pagoda (Indawgyi) in Mohnyin township, Kachin State, on 26 February (8th waxing of Taboung).
At the ceremony, 180 monks and 90 nuns will be offered alms and rice by respective departmental staff, members of the board of trustees, ethnic traditional cultural troupes, residents and pilgrims from around the region.
The Shwe Myintzu Pagoda (Indawgyi) festival takes place for eight days from the 8th waxing to the full moon day of Taboung annually and free accommodation has been arranged for pilgrims. The traditional alms donation ceremony and the rice offering ceremony will be celebrated in one day due to Covid-19 prevention and control measures in the region. — TWA/CT
