SAC Member and party visit historical site, Kawgun Cave in Kayin State

SAC member and Union ministers view round the Buddha images inside the Kawgun Cave.

State Administration Council Member Mahn Nyein Maung and Union Ministers Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, Dr Pwint San, U Min Thein Zan and Dr Thet Thet Khine, Kayin State Chief Minister U Saw Myint Oo and officials paid a visit to the ancient historical Kawgun Cave in Barkat Village-tract, Hpa-an on 4 November evening. Donations were made after they viewed ancient votive tablets and Buddha statues inside the cave.
The SAC member and the party viewed round inside the cave and viewed Buddha statues sculpted out of bricks, cement and wood into various shapes, sizes and postures, wall sculptures of Buddha images, ancient writings, standing, seated and reclining Buddha statues. Then, they offered flowers, water, lights and fragrances to the reclining Buddha statue in the cave and gave donations to the board of trustees of the Kawgun Cave.
Kawgun Cave, one of the cultural heritage sites in Myanmar, is located about seven miles away from the west of Hpa-an. It is known that the Kawgun Cave is a venue where one can see ancient cultural relics in Myanmar. — MNA
