SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing pays homage to Mawtinsun Pagoda, inspects pagoda platform expansion and renovation work

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by SAC members, Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win, South-West Command Commander Brig-Gen Kyi Khine and other officials, paid homage to Maha Makutayanthi Mawtinsun Pagoda in Hainggyikyun Township of Ayeyawady Region yesterday morning.
First, the Senior General and party were welcomed by officials, town elders and the pagoda board of trustees. Then, they paid homage to the pagoda and offered flowers and water to the pagoda.
The Senior General and party went round the pagoda in ‌a clockwise procession and inspected the pagoda platform expansion and maintenance work.
Then, the region chief minister reported on the pagoda platform expansion and renovation processe and structures to be seen after the work.
In his response to the reports, the Senior General said the Mawtinsun pagoda is a historic pagoda and it should conduct maintenance and renovation processes to ensure stability in such a manner that would not affect its originality. It should also record the work processes systematically. It needs to estimate the natural disaster and focus on the pleasant and decent things of the pagoda. Then, the Senior General and party observed the displayed record photos of pagoda renovation work in different eras, pagoda platform expansion, maintenance and scale models.
The Senior General and party also viewed round the pagoda including the renovation of ancient religious buildings and instructed them to conduct the renovation and systematic maintenance work on edifices if necessary.
Then, the Senior General presented cash donations for the all-round renovation of the pagoda to officials of the pagoda board of trustees.—MNA/KTZH
