ASEAN-BAC Chairman, UMFCCI hold business forum

The business forum jointly conducted by the ASEAN-BAC and UMFCCI in progress yesterday.

The delegation led by ASEAN-BAC Chairman Mr Arsjad Rasjid P.M. and UMFCCI (Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry), a member of ASEAN-BAC jointly organized a business forum under the topic of “The Role of ASEAN-BAC in Developing ASEAN Private Sector: Myanmar, A Potential Key Player” in Yangon yesterday.
Speaking at the forum, UMFCCI President U Aye Win talked about the support of ASEAN-BAC to ensure the sustainable development of the country’s economy and job opportunities, long-term prospects for individuals and ASEAN countries, positive impacts on ASEAN regions through Myanmar’s development that is also a good drive for ASEAN community.
Then, Mr Arsjad Rasjid P.M highlighted the ASEAN Roadshow, the aims to accelerate the ASEAN-centred processes and emerge as a focal centre for South East Asian region development, the crucial role of Myanmar for ASEAN and firm regional integration between Myanmar and ASEAN that will support regional stability and development.
The UMFCCI reaffirmed that it will work together with ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) and participate in every sector in the economic order of international countries including ASEAN.
Mr Arsjad Rasjid P.M. (ASEAN-BAC Indonesia), who received the role of Chairmanship at the 95th ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) held in Indonesia on 30 January 2023, visited Myanmar between 1 and 3 May as ASEAN-BAC Roadshow that includes six ASEAN countries — Singapore, Viet Nam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Cambodia and Brunei.
The roadshow carries five priorities: digital transformation, health resilience, sustainable development, food security, and trade and investment facilitation.
During the visit to Myanmar, the ASEAN-BAC Indonesia Chairman discussed the prioritized business sector and the enhancement of business collaboration between ASEAN and Myanmar.
After the business forum, the ASEAN-BAC Chairman and relevant officials replied to the questions raised by the media at the press conference. — MNA/KTZH
