Consecration ceremony, rice alms donation ceremony for 11,111 members of Sangha held in Yangon

The Yangon Region government organized the consecration ceremony and rice alms donation ceremony for 11,111 members of the Sangha at the Shwedagon Pagoda dedicated to the full moon day of Kason (Buddha Day), Buddha Year (2566-67) yesterday.
Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and many other officials attended these ceremonies together with well-wishers.
Then, the region’s chief minister and the congregation took nine precepts from Joint Secretary Sayadaw of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Sihanada and the Sayadaws recited Metta Sutta.
The region’s chief minister reported on religious matters and extended best wishes to the monks and people residing in the country through the holding of the consecration ceremony and rice donation ceremony for the monks.
He then donated the offerings to the Sayadaws together with the relevant officials.
Yangon Region Sangha Nayaka Committee Chairman Ovadacariya Sayadaw of Shwedagon Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Dwipitaka Dhara Dr Bhaddanta Agga Sami apologized to the Sayadaws if there were some mistakes in the ceremonies. After that, the region chief minister and congregation shared merit after listening to the sermons delivered by State Sangha Central Working Committee member Ovadacariya Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Setiyigana Pavasari Maha Dhamma Guru Tha Sa Ah Dhammacariya (Vanansaka) Pali Paragu Bhaddanta Nerada Bhivamsa.
The consecration ceremony was held at the upper level of Shwedagon Pagoda and 111 Sayadaws and 11,000 monks staying at People’s Square carried out the religious procedures.
Then, the region chief minister, relevant officials and congregation donated rice alms to 111 Sayadaws at Shwedagon Pagoda and 11,000 Sayadaws at People’s Square. — MNA/KTZH
