MoI Union Minister receives FCC-South Asia President

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn received President Mr Shirumalla Venkat Narayan of the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of South Asia and party at the ministry in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.
During the meeting, they discussed the India-Myanmar bilateral media sector cooperation, the upgrading of The Global New Light of Myanmar newspaper, and the inclusion of bilateral border trade news.
The also discussed the sending of more trainees from Myanmar to media institutes opened in India and measures to report the news and format of news that foreign media are interested in.
They had a friendly discussion on issues related to the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries for the further development of the news and media sector, balanced cooperation between the state-owned media and independent media, and visit exchange programmes for journalists from the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister U Ye Tint, Permanent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung and heads of departments. — MNA/KZL
