Illegal teaks, consumer goods, foodstuffs, electronic equipment, industrial raw materials, vehicles seized

The on-duty team under the supervision of the Customs Department made inspections. Officials confiscated one Dji drone estimated at K1.78 million without official documents at Mandalay International Airport on 7 March. And officials seized two kinds of goods including 9,014 oil filters worth over K1.5 million from Asia World Container Checkpoint on 9 March. Then, the inspection team nabbed 84 Kanjove Electric Tea Pot Double Cookers not declared in Import Declaration worth over K6 million from Hteedan Container Checkpoint on 10 March. The total seizures were worth over K2.3 million and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Furthermore, officials performed investigation at Yepu checkpoint in Shan State on 9 March and seized 590 cartons of tiles worth over K1.3 million which exceeded the number more than the declaration and one Hino Profia Truck estimated at K35 million. And the officials seized 5,000 kilogrammes of Knit Fabric and 1,800 kilogrammes of Iron Pipe Fitting estimated at K34 million not declared in ID and one Mitsubishi Fuso, one Hyundai Tractor Head and one trailer estimated at K85 million on 9 and 10 March and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
On 9 March, the inspection team under the supervision of Ayeyawady Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force seized 26.328 tonnes of various illegal timber worth over K1.7 million in Thabaung and Yekyi townships and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Moreover, the on-duty team carried out inspection at Thanlwin bridge (Hpa-an) checkpoint and seized 2,696 litres of vegetable oil, 160 cartons of Lipovitan-D, 20 cartons of M-150, 120 cartons of Cheers Beer, 180 cartons of Singha Beer estimated at K18 million and two Toyota HiAce, one Mini bus, one Mitsubishi Canter and one Top Super MP estimated at K50 million on 10 March. An on-duty team seized 40 cartons of Arm Bush and 170 cartons of Smart Softener without official documents estimated at K5.43 million at Kawkareik (Tadakyo) checkpoint. The total seizures amounted to K73.43 million and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Therefore, 27 arrests (estimated value of K266,156,653) were made on 7, 9 and 10 March, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/KZW
