An on-duty team under the supervision of the Customs Department conducted inspections on 15 December at the Myanmar Industrial Port container checkpoint and captured 570 boxes of fancy chains worth K5,250,000 that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a container. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
In addition, the Pyawbwe township food and drug administration under the management of the Mandalay Region FDA conducted market monitoring activities and confiscated 54 bags of fertilizers (Myinpyan brand) worth K4,425,000 without a product label in the Myanmar Language. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
An on-duty team confiscated K4,038,400 worth of sandals and construction materials that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from two vehicles and two trailers (estimated value of K230 million) at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint in Mon State. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 16 December, a total of 12.0262 tonnes of sawn teak worth K7,937,292 from a vehicle (approximately K30 million) was seized in Shwepyitha township in Yangon North District and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, 10 arrests (estimated value of K281,650,692) were made on 15 and 16 December, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
