A firewood charcoal making machine invented by a local entrepreneur U Ko Oo has attracted high public attention and the orders from charcoal traders are increasing.

Developed by his own design, U Ko Oo’s charcoal baker draws interest from many in the industry in Bago Region and places in Shan State like Taunggyi and Lashio, while he has received many business offers.

“Currently, charcoal makers are eager to make business offers. They need to carry at least five truckloads of firewood from the jungle to make charcoal. The price of his charcoal machine depends on the size and capacity of the type required by the customer and the machine he recently invented, which cost K 7 million, can produce a truckload of charcoal in 10  hours, he said.

“The price of firewood-to-charcoal machine varies. The price is fixed based on the size and capacity as per the requirements of the buyer,” he explained.

The price of a viss of charcoal has increased from K1000 to K1600 in some townships in Yangon Region.

U Ko Oo has invented another machine that could be a game changer in the charcoal industry, which can convert any flammable materials, in addition to paddy husks and sawdust, into charcoal powder.
