Myanmar miss final after loss to Thai team in AFF Women’s Championship semifinal

Myanmar national women’s football team lost 0-2 to Thailand women’s team in the semifinal of the AFF Women’s Championship at Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila, the Philippines yesterday. The loss leads team Myanmar to miss the final match.
In the first half of the match, the Myanmar team was able to put pressure on the Thai team with the advantage of football possession, but they could not use the effective scoring chances from the attack and did not score any goals.
After 45 minutes of normal play in the first half, in the two minutes of injury time, the Thai team scored the opening goal through a counter-attack by striker Kanyanat Chetthabut, and the Thai team won 1-0 after the first half. At the beginning of the second half, the Myanmar team fought back to get the equalizer but failed to score due to the weak ending skill. The Thai team got the second goal in the 82nd minute and substitute Saowalak scored the goal beautifully.
Thai entered the final with a 2-0 victory over team Myanmar.
“The better team wins this match. Congratulations to the Thai team for reaching the final. There were a lot of scoring opportunities during the match, but they were not used. The team’s weaknesses, including defence, will be prepared before the third-place match and we will compete at our best,” said Myanmar head coach Daw Thet Thet Win during the press conference after the match. Myanmar will play against Viet Nam for the third place while Thailand will take on the Philippines in the final for the championship title. — Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
