To enhance the friendship between Myanmar Tatmadaw and the Russian Navy, a concert featuring the Myanmar-Russia Friendship Myanmar Military Cultural Troupe and the Russian Naval Orchestra was held at the Zeyathiri Beikman in the Yangon Command Headquarters yesterday. Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Yangon Command Commander Maj-Gen Zaw Hein and officials, Russian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Iskandar Azizov, members of the Russian delegation, along with Tatmadaw from the Yangon Command and families among others were present on the occasion.
At the concert, artistes from the Myanmar-Russian Friendship, Myanmar Army Cultural Group and the Russian Naval Orchestra performed. The Russian Naval Orchestra played Russian songs, and there were Myanmar musical performances, including dance and songs. The Myawady Band from the Myanmar Tatmadaw Cultural Troupe performed Russian songs, including ‘Katyusha’ and ‘Kalinka,’ along with an innovative Bagan dance. They played Myanmar traditional instruments and the Myanmar orchestral band and also sang and performed the Russian song ‘Ar Thi Na Si Me Yar’.
After the entertainments, the regional chief minister and the commander extended a warm welcome to the Russian Naval Orchestra and the Russian Ambassador to Myanmar presented honours and gifts to the Myawady Band of the Myanmar Military Cultural Troupe, which operates under the Directorate of the Public Relations and Psychological Warfare. They also had the group documentary photograph taken with cultural troupes from both countries. — MNA/KZW
