Offenders to get 5 to 10-year prison for illegal power consumption

The Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation announced that there will be a field study on electricity consumption and the people will be sentenced to five to 10 years in prison if it is found illegal consumption of energy.
The illegal use of power is the illegal connection to power lines, direct connection without a meter box, reduction of consumption with a meter box, using bypass circuit, the wiring on input/output cables, reverse installation of input/output cables, cable extension, using power for business from the general meter and home-use meter, using the power of small-scale industry and lump sum meter beyond the energy load limit, illegal power usage repairing the meter boxes, repairing the inner part of the meter and screw loosening, the statement said.
It continued the power usage in industries during the restricted hours between 5 pm and 11 pm, another power usage on his own decision during the power rotation system, connecting power lines two and above, illegal tampering on general home-use meter, home-use power, small-scale and industrial power meter boxes, illegal tampering on the current transformer and voltage transformer for the meter and electric circuit connecting the current transformer and voltage transformer for the meter and illegal tampering or faults or damages on the current transformer and voltage transformer for the meter and electric circuit connecting the current transformer and voltage transformer for the meter.
Above mentioned methods can cause power loss, voltage reduction, transformer explosion due to overload, electrocution, fire outbreak and lowering income in the electricity sector of the country, it said.
Respective township officials will conduct field studies and if illegal power consumption is found, users and accessories to the case will face power cuts and have to pay a fine in line with the power load.
