Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla attended the hot-air balloon releasing ceremony of Tazaungdine Lighting Festival at Maravijaya Buddha Image in the Maravijaya Buddha Park in Dekkhinathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw yesterday, the full moon of Tazaungmone.
The ceremony was also attended by the SAC Secretary, the Joint Secretary and his wife, council members and their wives, Union-level persons and Union ministers and their wives.
The Senior General and wife and attendees viewed the launch of fireworks and hot-air balloons to Maravijaya Buddha Image.
After offering flowers, water and lighting to the Buddha image, the Senior General and wife ignited 9,000 oil lamps offered to the Buddha image and cordially greeted pilgrims and people enjoying the Tazaungdine festival.
The Senior General and his wife presented cash awards to nine weaving teams in the first golden lotus robe-weaving contest.

They also relased small hot-air balloons. The Tazaungdine lighting festival took place from 25 to 27 November at Maravijaya Buddha Image. During the festival, 9,000 oil lamps were offered to the Image, Maha Pathana treatise and religious verses were recited, fireworks were launched, golden lotus robes were weaved and hot-air balloons were released on a grand scale. The precinct of Buddha Park was illuminated with LED bulbs. In the market fair, MSME businesses showcased domestic products, foodstuffs, personal goods and traditional snacks.
