Specialists on third medical tour of Rakhine State

Under the arrangements of the Ministry of Health, a specialist medical team comprising professors and specialist surgeons from Cardiology, gastrointestinal medicine, neurology, neurosurgery, diabetes and hormone medicine, hematology, thoracic medicine and orthopaedic medicine of Yangon General Hospital and the Specialist Hospital (500-bed) was dispatched to Mocha-hit Sittway of Rakhine State on 19 and 20 August. This effort addressed the super specialty medical needs of the affected population.
Those specialists provided healthcare services to 871 residents from urban and rural areas of Sittway, Ponnagyun, Rathedaung, Pauktaw, MraukU, Kyauktaw, Minbya, Myebon, Maungtaw and Buthidaung townships.
Among them, 31 individuals were undergone heart imaging using an echocardiography machine. Additionally, 14 patients received treatment of gastrointestinal endoscopy (OGDS), two patients colonoscopy procedures, five individuals knee injections, nine patients CT scans, 71 patients X-ray diagnoses, 168 patients laboratory tests, and 29 patients ultrasound examinations.
Moreover, 124 patients undergone electrocardiogram (ECG) tests, and six patients further heart treatment were referred to Yangon General Hospital. Moreover, arrangements were made to transfer one patient in need of continued chest medical treatment to a specialist hospital-(500-bed) in Yangon.
This trip marked the third planned visit to Rakhine State in 2023. Similar trips have been made to Pathein of Ayeyawady Region, Taunggyi of Shan State and Magway of Magway Region, with further plans to other regions and states. — MNA/KZW
