Union Electric Power Minister inspects wind power project sites

Union Minister for Electric Power U Thaung Han yesterday morning inspected progress of the wind power project in Gwa Township, Rakhine State, where anemometers has already been erected in order to conduct the feasibility studies of generating electricity from wind power.
At first, company officials explained the project information and measures regarding plans for wind power projects in An, Gwa and Thandwe townships to the Union minister.
Then, the Union minister directed them to ensure safety in transportation of wind power equipment to the project site, proceed power line and substation upgrades from all sides, and perform to produce electricity as soon as possible as it is the first-ever wind power project in Myanmar.
Next, the Union minister and party checked the progress of recording wind speed results by installing anemometers and the pre-surveyed areas.
The wind power project in Gwa Township will be implemented together by a citizen-owned company Primus Advanced Technologies Limited (PRIMUS), Hong Kong-based Asia Ecoenergy Development Limited (AED) and Yunnan Machinery and Equipment Import and Export Co Ltd from the People’s Republic of China. It will be developed in Gwa Township, Rakhine State with an installed power of 100 megawatts, and the annual production capacity will be 227.2 million kilowatt hours.
At the 66/11 KV (10MVA) sub-station in Gwa Township, the Union minister looked into the project area in the sub-station yard.
After that, he met with the current employees and clarified the status of the Ministry’s operations and the current power distribution. The employees’ presentations were resolved and cash assistance was presented.
Finally, the Union minister and officials visited the Kyeintali Creek near Kyeintali to conduct the feasibility studies of water resources. — MNA/CT
