World Teachers’ Day marked in Nay Pyi Taw

A ceremony to mark the World Teachers’ Day took place at the Ministry of Education yesterday morning.
Union Minister for Education Dr Nyunt Pe read the message sent by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu Thadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing.
Secretary-General of the Myanmar UNESCO National Commission Dr Kyi Shwin read the message sent by the heads of five UN agencies.
Members of the State Administration Council Dr Hmu Thang and Dr Ba Shwe presented certificates of honour and cash awards to honorary persons of the 2023 World Teachers’ Day and Union Ministers Dr Myo Thein Kyaw and Dr Thet Khaing Win, and outstanding teachers.
Deputy Ministers Dr Zaw Myint and Dr Moe Zaw Tun and officials presented certificates of honour and cash awards to winning teachers and students in the commemorative contests.
The Union Minister for Education paid respects to 12 retired faculty members of the Botany Department, National Curriculum Committee Dr Myint Swe and Vice-President of Myanmar Academy of Arts and Sciences Dr Maung Kyaw.
The ceremony was marked in line with the theme “Teachers we need for education we want – The global imperative to reverse the teacher’s shortage.” — MNA/TTA
