A seasonal fruit, the custard apple, freshly harvested from Bago Region’s Pyay, has received loads of orders mainly from Yangon and Mawlamyine, and the trading has been pretty good since the beginning of the fruit season.
Custard apple is harvested during three months, from September to November, and fruit production is largest in October.
“Custard apple is freshly harvested now, and fruit production is the largest in October. We transport to other cities and towns, and the majority of orders are placed from Yangon and Mawlamyine. The trading is fine. Normally, custard apple price is steady every year,” said Ma Mo Mo Zaw, a custard apple trader from Pyay.
Custard apple is one of the most consumed fruits in Myanmar, and the trading this year is better than last year.
“Custard apple is good for eyes as well as for cardiac disease. Eating custard apples is good for pregnant women. Orders are larger this year compared to last year. Annual fruit production is regular, and there is no decline,” she added. — Thit Taw/ZS/ED
