30 teams to compete in Meiktila boat race at PhaungdawU Festival

A total of 30 teams will compete in the traditional boat race held as part of the 141st Meiktila Historic Karaweik PhaungdawU Pagoda Buddha Pujaniya Festival in Meiktila Township, Mandalay Region, according to U Tin Hlaing, a member of the pagoda board of trustees.
The boat race will take place from 10 to 17 September during the festival.
“The traditional boat race will be held as part of the Meiktila Historic Karaweik PhaungdawU Pagoda Festival. A total of 30 teams—10 teams in the senior category and 20 teams in the junior category—are participating in the competition. The boat race will start at 9 am on 10 September,” he added.
The 141st festival of the historic Karaweik PhaungdawU Pagoda will also feature alms-bowl offerings, a funfair, and a market festival. — ASH/MKKS
