59th SEAMEO BIOTROP Governing Board Meeting held online

The 59th SEAMEO BIOTROP Governing Board Meeting was convened online at IPB of Indonesia on 5 and 6 October, and Rector Dr Khin Maung Sint of the University of Forestry and Natural Environment of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation joined the event.
General Secretary Dr Ir Suharti of Indonesian Education, Culture, Research and Technology presided over the meeting and highlighted the prioritized education sector of the Indonesian government according to the constitution, an important role of education in addressing the challenges such as climate changes, biodiversity extinction, lowering soil quality and supports of the Indonesian government to SEAMEO BIOTROP.
The meeting was joined by the officials of nine member countries, the deputy mayor of Bogor, representatives of embassies, partner organizations, officials of the SEAMEO Secretary Office, experts and staff of SEAMEO BIOTROP.
The meeting adopted 14 resolutions and focused on meeting minutes of former meetings, annual report (draft) and financial report of 2020-2021, budget submission for coming next three years (from 2022-2023 to 2024-2025), researches and training to be conducted in 2022, 11th five-year project of SEAMEO BIOTROP 11th five-year development plan from 2022 to 2027 and proposals to amend the constitution of SEAMEO BIPTROP.—MNA
