Narcotic drugs worth over K2.4 bln seized in Mandalay Region

Myanmar Police Force seized narcotic drug worth over K2.4 billion — 79 kilos of heroin and 278,000 stimulant tablets — in Aungmyethazan and PyinOoLwin townships in Mandalay Region.
On 18 November, a combined team of MPF including police from the anti-drug task force searched a six-wheeled bowser driven by The Ko Ko Oo (aka) The Ko, 25, accompanied by Aung Myo Thant (aka) Hnin Wai, 41, at Shwekyetyet jetty in Amarapura Township at 1.30 pm on 18 November and seized narcotic drug worth over K1.2 billion — 33 kilos of heroin in 3,300 soap cases worth more than K1.2 billion and 258,000 stimulant tablets from them. According to the confiscation, Zaw Tint Aung (aka) Htaw Gyi, 35, and Ye Saw Naung (aka) Pyu Pyu (aka) Nga Pyu, 29, were arrested together with a motor cycle near North Tangar Village in Madaya Township for drug trafficking at 8 am on 19 November. Similarly, police arrested Saw Hmway (aka) Tun Tun Win (aka) Hmway Ni with K1 million on Nantthataung school street, No 2 Ward of the same township.
According to the further information, a combined team of MPF searched a 22-wheeled trailer which stopped near Mogyopyit Village from PyinOoLwin Township and confiscated narcotic drug worth over K1.19 billion — 46 kilos of heroin in 4,600 soap cases and 20,000 stimulant tablets from the trailer. Those drugs were trafficked from northern Shan State to Sagaing Region.
Police filed charges against the suspects under the law, and further investigation is being conducted to expose other perpetrators involved the cases. — MNA
