SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
Under the management of the Customs Department, an on-duty- team made inspections at the Myanmar Industrial Terminal Container Checkpoint, according to information on 2 August.
Officials captured K67,007,000 worth of industrial materials that were different from the Import Declaration (ID). The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Afterwards, a combined team made inspections under the management of the Magway Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force.
They confiscated K3,240,000 worth of pet laundry detergent without official documents at the Magway freight handling terminal. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Similarly, K60.5 million worth of ten unregistered motorboats which were used in illegal drilling stonework were captured east of the Ayeyawady River about 12 miles south of Minhla township. The action was taken under the Conservation of Water Resources and Rivers Law.
In addition, a team led by the Myanmar Police Force confiscated 1,200 gallons of illegal fuel oil worth K10.8 million in Monywa township and 14,150 gallons of illegal fuel oil worth K133,010,000 on the Kawlin-Wuntho Road under the management of the Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force. The action was taken under the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law.
On 3 August, K14 million worth of raw chemicals that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) were seized at the Thanlwin Bridge Combined Checkpoint and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
On 4 August, a total of 10.8034 tonnes of illegal timbers were seized in Bago and Toungoo districts and the action was taken under the Forest Law. In addition, a total of 25 tonnes of illegal timber worth K3,750,000 were confiscated in Maungtaw township under the supervision of the Rakhine State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force. Therefore, 14 arrests estimated at K294,929,978 were made on three consecutive days from 2 to 4 August, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
