Myanmar celebrates 2024 World Red Cross Day

The 2024 World Red Cross Day Commemoration Ceremony took place in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
In his address, State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo said there are 191 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies around the world working to save lives. The Myanmar Red Cross Society also provides humanitarian assistance based on the fundamental principles.
He then called on the Myanmar Red Cross Society to keep carrying out the work plans for humanitarian assistance in line with the fundamental principles and policies of the country.
Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win and Chairman of Myanmar Red Cross Society Dr Myo Nyunt made speeches, respectively.
General Mya Tun Oo and SAC members Dr Hmu Thang, Dr Ba Shwe and U Yan Kyaw gave prizes to the winners in the competitions of essays and poems marking the 2024 World Red Cross Day.
The members of regional and state Red Cross societies who served the duties until they reached the age of 65 for the Myanmar Red Cross Society were also honoured at the event.
General Mya Tun Oo and the party had a documentary photo taken together with the attendees and viewed around the booths.
The World Red Cross Day has been celebrated annually since 8 May 1948, and the theme of this year is “Keeping Humanity Alive”. — MNA/KTZH
