Myanmar celebrates World Immunization Week 2024

The Ministry of Health marked World Immunization Week in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
At the event, Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win talked about the theme of 2024 World Immunization Week, “Humanly Possible: Saving lives through immunization”, measles vaccination that has adverted 23 million deaths between 2010 and 2018, regular vaccination that prevented more than 20 life-threatening diseases and 24 million people from falling into poverty due to health expenses.
He also highlighted the immunization week conducted in Nay Pyi Taw and regions/states between 24 and 30 April, a double increase in vaccine coverage in 2023 compared with 2021 and cooperation work with relevant officials in primary healthcare services, including vaccination processes.
Then, the Union minister and party observed the special immunization activities for children under 15 at Shwethaephyu Monastery in Dekkhinathiri Township and immunization processes with a catch-up method for children under five at Zeyathiri Township. — MNA/KTZH
