Encourage the emergence of youths in Red Cross societies

The Myanmar Red Cross Society has been a steadfast force in the country, providing protection and aid to all people, regardless of their religion or social status, in times of disaster such as floods, fires, storms, and earthquakes throughout its history.
The members of the Myanmar Red Cross Society are volunteers dedicated to serving the interests of all communities without discrimination. Their primary focus is on providing first aid and responding to emergencies such as earthquakes, conflicts, migration crises, and health epidemics to mitigate the impact of disasters, armed conflicts, and life-threatening situations. In its noble history, varieties of Red Cross and Red Crescent societies have sacrificed lives and limbs to rescue and save the lives of many people from natural disasters and manmade disasters.
In Myanmar society, the youth are always eager and ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, showing high moral values and generosity. The Myanmar Red Cross Society actively participates in national-level disaster response and provides assistance during emergencies. It also conducts disease prevention measures, contributes to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, raises health awareness through campaigns, and collaborates with international Red Cross societies and the ASEAN Humanitarian Assistance-AHA Centre.
This year’s World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day 2024 carries the theme: “Keeping Humanity Alive”. Today, it is important to encourage youth to participate more actively in Red Cross movements, aligning with international Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Efforts should be made to instil the basic Red Cross spirit in primary education schools, fostering patriotism and a sense of national pride in honouring the State and its people.
In commemoration of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day 2024, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement are providing a wide range of services to the most vulnerable people in various contexts. These services range from responding to needs in disaster and conflict situations to providing assistance in urban centres and hard-to-reach areas, as well as advocating on behalf of those in need.
In fact, the activities of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies are meritorious in easing tension and mitigating the burden of plights of the people suffering from a variety of disasters, armed conflicts, and unexpected catastrophes. As such, everybody needs to encourage those from Red Cross societies to accelerate their valuable activities as well as to give training to youths for the emergence of more volunteer Red Cross members across the nation.
