Six solar-powered aerators to be used to prevent water pollution in re-discharge of wastewater

According to the Urban Environmental Conservation and Sanitation Department under the Yangon City Development Committee, arrangements are being made to prevent water pollution in disposing of wastewater by using six aerators driven by solar-powered two HP motors.
Leachate wastewater released from the landfills and the Hteinbin final disposal site in Hlinethaya (West) Township is collected in the surface aerator tank and then aerated. Aeration is the process by which air is circulated through, mixed with or dissolved in a liquid or substance.
By the aeration process, bacteria and micro-organisms in the leachate can be reduced and water pollution can be prevented during re-discharge.
In addition, the aeration process is also being used at the Kandawgyi Lake to reduce the bacteria and micro-organisms in the lake water and algae with the solar-powered three-blade motor equipped with a 1.1 kW DC motor.
