Myanmar Fire Services Department and social associations are donating water in some areas with water shortage as the temperature rises.
Due to El Niño, temperatures have been rising from early April and some areas are facing water shortage, said social associations.
1600 gallons of water were donated by Yenangyoung fire brigade to the Kantawmin monastery in Bay Me ward, Yenangyoung, Magway region on 8 April. Drinking water was donated by Tangyan fire brigade to No. 5 ward, Tangyan, Shan State on 8 April. Myanmar Social Association (Mandalay) has been donating drinking water to pagodas, monasteries, guesthouses, wards, and houses which require water by water trucks up to 4000 gallons regularly since March and it plans to continue its efforts in water donation, according to an official.
“As Mandalay is a big city, water shortage is not huge. But, some face power outage and water supply cuts. We are helping the houses that face water difficulty in wards. If people face difficulty, they can contact our association for water,” he said.
At present, social associations make themselves ready to provide assistance whenever they get communications seeking for water supply in case of shortage.
