Late onset, early departure predicted for monsoon season

It is forecasted that the monsoon will arrive late and leave early in the coming monsoon season, said U Hla Tun, a spokesperson from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.
Under current forecasts, the monsoon will be moderate plus late coming, and the beginning of the monsoon is possibly not good.
“If monsoon was late, the beginning of monsoon could not be fine. Under current forecasts, the monsoon will be late. The beginning of the monsoon is set from the time it enters to the end of June, so the later it arrives, the worse it is. According to the current forecast, the monsoon will be weak to just moderate. Rainfall depends on the strength of the monsoon. The strength of the monsoon is predicted to be weak to moderate, so the monsoon rain can’t be much better. If the rain level is lower than the average level, the beginning of the monsoon is not good. This monsoon is forecasted to be lower than average rain or stay at average rain, so the beginning of the monsoon won’t be good,” said U Hla Tun.
The monsoon will be just ordinary, even in mid-monsoon, he said.
“The mid-monsoon is from July to August. The strength of the monsoon is predicted to be moderate to strong, and nationwide rainfall is forecasted to be average, so this year’s monsoon will be normal,” he said.
Moreover, in the late monsoon period, the monsoon will leave early on 1 September, according to current forecasts.
