Temporary road closures announced for consecration at Shwedagon Pagoda, rice offering ceremony

The government of Yangon Region declared the temporary closure of certain roads during the rehearsal on 30 April and the actual ceremony on 2 May. The closure of roads will commence at 4 am and will remain effective until the culmination of the event.
During the ceremony, Pyay Road will be closed from Hanthawady roundabout to Bogyoke Aung San Road, U Wisara road from Hanthawady roundabout to Shwedagon Pagoda Road, Shwedagon Pagoda road from U Htaung Bo road to U Wisara junction, Ahlon Road from Baho Road to Shwedagon Pagoda road and Myoma Kyaung road from Ahlon Road to Minye Kyaw Swa Road.
Vehicles heading southwards along Pyay Road are required to make a right turn at the Hanthawady roundabout and proceed towards Upper Kyimyindine Road. Similarly, vehicles travelling northwards on Pyay Road should turn left to Bogyoke Aung San Road and proceed towards Lower Kyimyindine Road. For those travelling towards U Wisara Road, they are advised to proceed from Hanthawady roundabout towards Upper Kyimyindine Road. Vehicles en route to Shwedagon Pagoda Road have to drive from U Htaung Bo Road to Bahan roundabout, and those heading towards Ahlon Road should follow Baho Road. As for vehicles travelling towards Myoma Kyaung Road, they have been instructed to take the diversion towards Minye Kyaw Swa Road.—TWA/KZW
