Illegal foodstuffs, consumer goods, mining products and vehicles seized

A combined team under the supervision of the Kachin State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force apprehended an unregistered Voxy car (worth approximately K4 million) near Lido Road between Tanai and Myitkyina on 19 June. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
A combined team on duty under the Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force confiscated a Hino truck (valued at around K25 million) carrying two kinds of goods (worth K7.975 million) including 90 APP steel sinks which were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) near the 0/65 Milepost between Phayagyi and Waw on 20 June. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
In addition, a combined team at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint intercepted a Toyota Hilux (estimated value of K17 million) carrying 4,500 boxes of Lactasoy soy milk (worth K1.5 million) without proper documentation while travelling from Hpa-an to Bago. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
In a separate incident, a combined team led by a sub-inspector of the Dawei Myoma Police Station confiscated 10 bags of mining products (tin, tungsten and iron ore) without official documents from a vehicle on Bothankyi road in Dawei township on 20 June. Following interrogation, they also discovered another 29 bags of mining products (tin, tungsten and iron ore) at the metal refining plant in Waekyun Myothit ward in Dawei township, on the same day. The action was taken under the Myanmar Mines Law.
A total of six arrests were made on 19 and 20 June, with an estimated value of K81,425,000, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
