Confiscation of illegal items: Timbers, industrial materials, foodstuffs, consumer goods and vehicles

On 26 April, combined enforcement teams confiscated a Hino Profia truck (valued at approximately K30 million) parked near Milepost 385/2 on the Mandalay highway. The truck was found to be carrying illegal teak logs weighing 13.195 tonnes, valued at K24.4 million. The action was conducted under the Forest Law.
On the same day, the on-duty teams intercepted an unregistered Nissan X-Trail truck (valued at approximately K20 million) and a Higer bus (estimated at K35 million) travelling from Hpa-an to Yangon. The vehicles were found to be transporting four sets of Felicity solar lithium iron phosphate batteries valued at K28 million at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint. Additionally, at the Myanmar Industrial Zone, goods from three containers, including 3,446.26 square metres of clear float glass from China, with a total value of K41.975 million, were seized as they were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID). The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 27 April, combined teams confiscated four vehicles (with an estimated value of K95 million) heading to Yangon from Myawady. The cars were carrying seven kinds of goods valued at K29.66 million, including 885 kilogrammes of plastic tubes from Thailand without official documents, near the Hpa-an township detour. The seizure was conducted under Customs procedures.
Also, on 27 April, combined on-duty teams seized a Mitsubishi Fuso bus (approximately valued at K30 million) heading to Yangon from Myeik. The bus was found to be carrying three kinds of goods (estimated value of K5.26 million), including 360 bottles of Cook and Lobster fish sause from Thailand, without official documents. Additionally, illegal timber (charcoal) weighing 12.64 tonnes, valued at K189,600, was discovered at the Nyaungkhashay x-ray station. The action was taken under Customs procedures and the Forest Law.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported 20 arrests made on 26 and 27 April, with an estimated value of K339.49 million. — MNA/MKKS
