The trail to Mount Phonkanrazi in Kachin State, a popular destination for those interested in snow-capped mountain climbing, is arranged for travellers’ convenience, according to an interview with local travel agencies.
It took about two weeks to clear the obstacles in the old trek from PutaO to Phonkanrazi.
“We cleared bushes along the trekking route to the mountain. We arranged ropes for the guests where needed in areas that were difficult to access. If the path was too narrow, we widened it. We aim for the guests to walk comfortably,” said a local-based tour operator.
Tourism officials also took part in the clearing.
“The old mountain path was difficult for both locals and the guests. Now, it has been arranged for their convenience. There are a few travellers because we only have one flight. But we expect it to pick up again. Then, everything will be fine,” said a local. — Htet Oo Maung/ZN/ED
